Last weekend I did a shoot of a 2 week old baby, and her nearly 2 year old big sister. Mum had seen some of my earlier photos of a mother and her new baby and wanted something similiar, all bare shoulders, very much the earth mother look – and we made some beautiful images, which I’ll be posting soon.
And then today I booked a shoot with another mum who’ll be in a similar situation in just over 3 weeks. She commented that she probably wouldn’t be looking her best on the day of the shoot. Which I can totally understand.
But the first few days with your new baby are such important ones in your family story, and in your child’s story, as you all begin the process of getting to know each other. Photographs of this time have a special quality, and you’ll have a certain glow when you look at your baby – so although you might not feel in top physical shape, you really will look fantastic. So just relax – you’ve certainly earned it.
